The nearest beaches only 15 minute drive away, inclusive of
Branscombe, and
Beer, however if you're open to driving for your beach day, be sure to visit
Seaton,
Sidmouth,
Lyme Regis and
Charmouth beaches. To either side of the wide, shingle, Branscombe beach, the coast rises to cliffs, which are in the ownership of the National Trust. There are spectacular walks in both directions - either the South West Coast Path towards Sidmouth or alternatively, the shorter but undoubtedly more scenic and dramatic cliff walk to Beer. This walk was recently voted one of the top 50 most scenic walks in Britain. There are various other scenic walks in the area.
Beer is a picturesque seaside village facing
Lyme Bay and is a little over 1 mile west of the town of
Seaton. It is situated on the
Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and its picturesque cliffs, including Beer Head, form part of the South West Coast Path. Join a guided tour in the
Beer Quarry Caves, Take a ride on the
Pecorama Railway through award-winning gardens with beautiful sea views, or take a 4 mile moderate ramble along the South West Coast Path through the Hooken Cliffs.
Just 1.5 miles from Beer, you will find the Seaside town of Seaton, a fishing harbour and civil parish in East Devon on the south coast of England, between Axmouth and Beer. Facing onto Lyme Bay, Seaton is perfectly accessible to explore the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. A sea wall provides access to the mostly shingle beach stretching for about a mile, and a small harbour, located mainly in the Axmouth area.
