Loved the place so much, especially being able to walk everywhere – felt like we were abroad at times. Haven’t scratched the surface of places to go – so we might be back!

We’ve has a lovely stay in this house – thank you for everything. Gara Rock – despite serving nice burgers, the other food was overpriced. The Crab Shed, Salcombe – lovely seafood and the Scallop was delicious (booking in advance is helpful).

Walking along the River Dart and the smallest nightclub in the world in Kingsbridge. Best meals out – Gara Rock for dinner with a view. The Winking Prawn and The Maltsters at Tuckenhay.

Had a lovely time at Apple Barn, excellent facilities. Weather was superb allowing walks both ways along the coastal path and plenty of time at various beaches for Tess to swim. Crossed on the ferry a few times to Salcombe, North and South Sands not dog friendly but all beaches on this side are. We have managed an evening drink at Gara Rock hotel watching the sunset. Thanks very much !!

Lovely cosy home which we have fully appreciated. Walks to E Prawle, Mill Bay, ferries to Salcombe and time for R and R. Great lunch at the Crabshed in Salcombe – you need to book online. We have loved being here and meeting Beth and Geoff was a bonus. Would love to come back and would recommend it to others.

Our second visit and lots of new places to explore – Dartmouth Castle and Hound Tor and Dartmoor Tea Estate. But our favourites were revisited most – beautiful Gara Rock beach and Sunny Cove. This is an equisite location – to do things, and to do nothing – a luxury for us to have 2 weeks so we could enjoy both. Thanks for a fantastic cottage and welcome.

Such a picture perfect holiday! A home from home, surrounded by butterfly filled fields. The walks to Mill Bay and Gara Rock are mystical and paddling up the estuary is a perfect adventure for any naturalist. The house has an amazing view of the vast green landscape of Devon and made you feel welcomed and was a wonderful place for anyone to stay in, from young adventures to family getaways! Thank you so much for such a happy holiday experience.

A beautiful and magical spot in paradise. When we arrived the weather was pretty bad..showers etc..and Frogmore was closed - as we were caught up in a serious line of traffic with no-ne budging.. Took an hour to get through- but once at Apple Barn, everything got better. Walks with our puppy Juno, at Mill Bay, absolutely magical and ferry to Salcombe charming, other than very changeable weather ( unsurprising for late September) this has been a wonderful break.

The location of this beautiful barn conversion is amazing and divine. We enjoyed many coastal walks with our dog around the area. Don't miss Mill Bay, it is just a 15 minute walk to this beautiful sandy beach that overlooks Salcombe. Sunny Cove is also a wonderful beach that is just to the left of Mill Bay. Salcombe is a beautiful town just across from Mill Bay and Sunny Cove. It is just a 3 minute trip on a pretty ferry across the estuary. This is a pretty barn conversion and my children love the step ladder.

We spent a lovely couple of days of Apple Barn. The coastal walk to the Pig's Nose was great and pub is worth a visit. A great choice of beer and a rather quirky atmosphere - maybe it was just the Halloween vibe! The ferry across to Salcombe runs continuously so you never wait long. The coastal walk on the Salcombe side was spectacular, particularly after a bacon sandwich at The Winking Prawn. The view from Dick and Wills was stunning (and its crab sandwiches were just perfect after the long walk). A great few days and the dog loved it as well.

Thank you for a delightful and relaxing stay at Apple Barn. The walk up to Gara Rock and around the headland to Mill Bay was perfect for little legs! The short boat trip to Salcombe was fun, as was the stroll through the town to Northsands and the fantastic Winking Prawn beach restaurant. Although a little too far to stroll for dinner, the Pig's nose is an experience not to be missed. Never have we been to such a peculiar establishment.

A lovely cottage with lovely views and great coastal walks as well as a lovely 15 minutes walk to the unspoilt nearby beach of Mill Bay from the house. The cottage is nicely furnished and very comfortable. It is a very peaceful place to stay, deep in the countryside, yet with the sea just a walk away and a lovely restaurant with sea views just around the corner. Thank you for a wonderful week at lovely cosy Apple Barn. This cottage is a true retreat and it is lovely decorated and cared for. Mandy left us with a wonderful welcome pack and we felt very at home straight away in this peaceful place. We love the coastal path from Gara Rock to Mill Bay. The track from here to Mill Bay is magical and we did it several times on a rainy day. A lovely trip via the coastal roads to Coleton Fishacre with teh ferry (lower one) from Dartmouth on a sunny day was wonderful. Coleton Fishacre is a wonderful place. We've had a wonderful week here (like everyone else!), revisiting places we know and discovering new ones. The walks from Gara Rock are beautiful and we've all enjoyed the beaches at Mill Bay and East Portlemouth. We even managed to get Howard (the dog) on the ferry twice - quite an achievement as he is scared of water! Also had a lovely day out in Dartmouth and would highly recommend a visit to National Trust property Colerton Fishacre and then take the ferry from Dittisham (further up the estuary) to Agatha Christie's holiday home, Greenway, a real gem. A wonderful return to South Devon and the weather was so much better than forecast. We had a wonderful time and thought that the house was fabulous - so quiet, lovely views and get - by ferry - just a few minutes from the middle of Salcombe. We ate at the Millbrook and enjoyed the meal - though try and book. We walked along the beaches from Millbay and further afield recommend Totnes (King William for lunch), Dartmouth and Kingswear. Kingsbridge is fine for groceries and Brixham, whilst still a seaside resort, is in better shape than when I was last here. Cider, fudge & cream teas put the finishing touches on a very relaxing and enjoyable week. Shame we have to go back to Yorkshire!

The Barn is comfortable, warm and very well equipped, with everything you need. Loved the light and sunny rooms and the sheltered terrace. Fab walks from here, we liked Salcombe. Visited Greenways which is such a beautiful house. Agatha Christie's must have got a lot of inspiration from the area. Dartmouth was lovely. Blackpool Sands very pretty. Seacombe Sands below Gara Rock was perfect and no driving involved. Bigbury on Sea was worth a visit with a great pub in Bigbury. We had a fab hol!! Thanks to everyone. M&C, Suffolk

Apple Barn has been perfect for the peace but so close to Salcombe you don't know its there. The Ferry Inn has been a favourite to watch the (sailing) world go by, that The Victoria and the Cricket Inn (Beesands) all did great food. The house is fab. Try walking Gara Rock to the Pigs Nose Inn (East Prawle) for some adventure. A lovely week. Many thanks. D&L, Co Durham
