Description

Perched in an unbeatable position right on Brixham Marina, Dragon’s Nest is a characterful coastal townhouse steeped in history, offering a truly unique stay in the very heart of this vibrant fishing town. This enchanting 17th-century property is full of fascinating design features, hidden details and quirky touches, making it a memorable retreat for children and adults alike.

From the moment you arrive, the location speaks for itself. Step outside and you are immediately amongst the energy of the marina, watching fishing boats come and go, enjoying waterside dining, or setting off along the South West Coast Path. Despite its central position, Dragon’s Nest offers a welcoming and comfortable base to relax and unwind after a day exploring the English Riviera.

Inside, the property combines historic character with practical living spaces arranged across several floors. The lounge provides a cosy setting to relax, with comfortable seating, harbour views and a feature fireplace, creating a warm and inviting space for quieter evenings in. The open-plan kitchen and dining area is well equipped for self-catering stays and provides a sociable place to gather, eat and spend time together.

The bedrooms are thoughtfully arranged to provide comfortable accommodation for families, couples or small groups. One of the most distinctive spaces is the Captain’s Cabin, a unique ship-style bedroom that adds real character to the property. Children and adults alike will enjoy the experience of sleeping in this nautical cabin-style room while looking out towards the sea, making Dragon’s Nest feel far more memorable than a standard coastal holiday home.

Throughout the house, guests will discover interesting details, playful features and eccentric touches that add to the magic of the stay. If a magical character could choose a Brixham holiday home, Dragon’s Nest would certainly feel like a fitting choice.

Outside, Dragon’s Nest really comes into its own. The property benefits from a wonderful, very private three-tiered garden, with multi-level outdoor spaces designed to make the most of its elevated harbour position. Guests can enjoy the private BBQ deck and cabana, along with additional garden levels that provide different places to sit, relax and take in the surroundings. The upper sunset viewing deck is a standout feature, offering panoramic views across Brixham Harbour, the bay and surrounding coastline. It is a wonderful spot for morning coffee, relaxed al fresco dining or a glass of wine as the sun sets across the water.

The property also has a distinctive dragon chimney feature, a memorable architectural detail that forms part of the house’s identity and character, and is known locally as a talking point.

With its rich character, unbeatable marina location, harbour views, unique Captain’s Cabin and exceptional outdoor spaces, Dragon’s Nest offers a truly special stay for those looking to experience Brixham from the heart of the harbour.
