Location

The closest town is Taunton, boasting independent and high street shops, a variety of eateries and a wealth of history. Or visit Honiton, a lively market town famous for its lace and pottery. Art lovers should take a trip to the Thelma Hulbert Gallery, featuring local art and frequent events and workshops.

Take in the pretty scenery and take a walk along the East Devon Way, or head to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Visit the pretty seaside towns and villages which include; Seaton, Beer, Branscombe and Sidmouth.

Exmouth, is also a very popular part of the South East Devon coastline, and has two miles of golden sands with rock pools, perfect for children to explore. Exmouth is also very popular with water sports enthusiast, where you can hire windsurfers, kite surfers and kayaks.

For wine lovers, be sure to visit the Lyme Bay Winery, with award winning still and sparkling wine, fruit wine, rum and much more from Devon's beautiful Axe Valley.

About the railway: The line runs approximately 20 miles from Bishops Lydeard (near Taunton) to the seaside town of Minehead. It passes through scenic countryside, including the Quantock Hills, and offers views across the Bristol Channel. It has 10 stations, including historic locations like Watchet, Crowcombe Heathfield, and Dunster. Services are operated using a variety of preserved steam and diesel locomotives and carriages, many of which are typical of the Great Western Railway (GWR) era.
