Guests can enjoy a wide range of water sports, including sailing, kayaking and paddleboarding, or simply take to the water on one of the many River Dart boat trips. Regular ferries run from Dartmouth along the river to the picturesque village of Dittisham, where you can try traditional crabbing on the pontoon, or continue upstream to the historic market town of Totnes, known for its independent shops, cafes and riverside walks.

In Dittisham lies the National Trust's Greenway Estate, the former holiday home of Agatha Christie, surrounded by peaceful woodland gardens and offering stunning river views. Dartmouth Castle, another National Trust landmark, sits at the mouth of the River Dart and can be reached on foot via scenic coastal and woodland paths, offering panoramic views across the coastline and out to sea.

Dartmouth boasts a vibrant foor and drink scene, with an excellent choice of waterside restaurants, traditional pubs and cafes. Well-known favourites include The Seahorse, The Angel, and Taylors, whilst just a short drive away you'll find popular countryside pubs such as The Watermans Arms, The Maltsters Arms, Hunters Lodge Inn and Durant Arms, all ideal for relaxed dining after a day exploring the South Hams.

For families, Kindswear makes an excellent base for visiting some of Devon's top family attractions, including Pennywell Farm, Dartmoor Otter Sanctuary , Buckfast Butterfly Farm, Totnes Rare Breeds Farm, Woodlands Family Theme Park and Paignton Zoo., all within easy driving distance.

Beach lovers are equally well catered for, with Castle Cove and Sugary Cove, perfect for a quiet paddle or picnic. Just four miles away lies Blackpool Sands, one of South Devon's most popular beaches, known for its crystal-clear waters, water sports hire and beachside cafe. Around a 30-minute drive away is the iconic Bantham Beach, frequently ranked among the best beaches in Devon, offering wide sandy shores, rolling dunes, excellent surf and stunning views across the estuary to Burgh Island.
