Each winter, from November to January, Torbay shines bright as the Bay of Lights Festival transforms the English Riviera into a glowing wonderland. Throughout the festival, spanning Torquay, Paignton, and Brixham, the event brings together dazzling light trails, illuminated landmarks, lantern parades, and unique seasonal attractions. A Magical New Attraction for 2025 – Ice Skating at Abbey Park
For 2025, the Bay of Lights festival is gliding into exciting new territory! Torbay will welcome a real ice rink for the first time in years, adding a sparkling new dimension to the festive celebrations. Set in the heart of Abbey Park, the rink invites visitors of all ages to enjoy the magic of skating under a beautifully lit canopy.
Open daily from Saturday 6 December 2025 to Friday 2 January 2026, the rink hosts hourly sessions for up to 80 skaters, making it perfect for families, friends, and festive fun-lovers alike. Beginners and seasoned skaters will find joy in this enchanting winter experience, while parent-and-toddler sessions on Fridays ensure the little ones can join in the fun too.
Ice rink opening times:
- Monday to Thursday: 4pm – 9pm
- Friday: 2pm – 9pm (Parent & toddler sessions: 11am – 12pm & 12pm – 1pm)
- Weekends: 11am – 9pm (excluding 4pm – 5pm for resurfacing)

Illumination Trail – Torquay
Wander along a 1.5-mile illuminated trail by the seafront, which is free to explore and open daily from 4:30 pm. In addition, visitors can pause at themed photo spots, enjoy seasonal music drifting across the promenade, and soak up the twinkling reflections on the water, making it a perfect stroll for families, couples, and friends alike.

A highlight of the Bay of Lights festival, this annual celebration fills the harbour town with sparkle.
